Liwa Dates wants its money back: VAT amendments, refunds & de-registration
What happens after registration, when things change
Aisha Al Mazrouei, finance manager at Liwa Dates Export, calls from Abu Dhabi. "We exported almost everything this period, but we spent heavily on the packing line. Our accountant says the FTA owes us money. How do we get it?"
Meanwhile Sanjay at Sharjah Home Services has moved his office, and wants to know what he has to tell the FTA.

Rules settled in this chapter
- A negative Box 14: Zero-rated exporters often have more input VAT than output VAT. The excess can be carried forward or claimed through a refund application.

- Three kinds of property, three answers: New residential (first supply, within 3 years): zero-rated. Commercial: standard-rated. Later residential: exempt, and its costs' VAT is not recoverable.

Refunds and de-registration
